Protest Against Child Labor

In Baños del Inca, we encounter a protest against "Trabajo Infantíl" (child labor) consisting mostly of children. It was quite a sight! The children carried placards and posted resolutions (like the one below) around the plaza.

We watch the procession, which is followed by a rally with lots of speeches. We are particularily moved by the broken-voiced words of the 15-year-old president of the Committee Against Child Labor.

His name is Genaro, and we manage to conduct a small interview with him using my challenged Spanish. He, like many other children in Peru, has to work to make up for the lack of employment of his parents. He attends school in the evenings and still manages to make time to coordinate rallies against child laor. Pretty amazing kid.
